Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving was so much fun! It was great to spend some time together! We had an abundance of food! I wish we could have stayed later so we could have eaten more! It was good to have Nettie home for a while. She played the piano Sunday while Justin sang "When I am baptized", they did great. for a while I wondered if Justy was gonna bail! but he did it and did great. Kayla is starting to relax a little and learn what a real family is like. Even meeting all of you on thanksgiving! Joking! Lynette got to spend so time with her friend Bailey. He is going through Chemo and needed to get out of the house so he hung with us! He's such a doll. Things are going well and kids are getting excited for Christmas and snow! The keep telling us how excited they are to go to the condo!

November Already

Where did October go?

The week after the baptism was our primary program. Justin did very well, spoke clear and load enough. Just as the meeting was starting he realized he left his tie home(he never goes to church without his tie!). Reece was home sick so we called him to bring one. Then i had to walk up to the front to give it to him! Near the end of the program his class sang "i hope they call me on a mission" I think Justin was the lead and the rest were just backup singers;o! The lady who is in charge of finding musical numbers for sacrament came up to me after and asked if he would sing a solo for the fourth sund in Nov. She was in awe and said "he hit every note on key and actually sang not shouted!

Some of you may have heard, we have a new resident. Her name is Kayla and she is 14. She was baptized by Elder Wood in March or April. We knew she was looking for something in her life we just didn't know what. It has taken her this long to just talk to us. We always thought she was so shy. She attempted to take her life about a month ago. Her b-day was in Oct. and I asked Katie to cut and color her hair for her. Then we took her to town and bought her some new clothes. On monday she told us she had been molested and her parents(leagal gaurdians) said that the boy was asleep and didn't know what he was doing. Reece asked her if any one else had done this to her and she said yes. He emediatly came into the house and called the police. The only other person she had told about this was her therapist just that afternoon. We were shocked that
he had not told the authorities yet. Her parents tell her she is a crazy lunatic. Since she has been in my house (4 days) she has changed so much. She isn't shy, she talks and runs around with leslie like she lives here. We are going to do everything in our power to make sure that she never has to go back to that house again. We are going to petition to get legal custody and maybe even adopt her( her real parents have abandoned her twice). So maybe with all the other ones we are praying for right now you could also say a prayer for Kayla!

Birthday Weekend

So Justin turned 8 on Saturday! Bradley got to baptize him! It was real neat. Mickaela came up for Saturday but had to work so she went home before Sunday when we confirmed him. Grandma & Grandpa Dixon, Katie, Brant, Isaac, Jason, Natalie, the Missionaries, a few friends and Grandma Phillips came also. Immediately after the baptism we hurried to a soccer game. Then we came home for Lunch. Grandma, Katie, Lynette and Nan spent the next 5 1/2 hours doing apples. Grandpa & Brad went hunting water fowl. It was busy but we had a lot of fun! Just the week before our family got to go to Conference in Salt Lake. Grandpa Phillips came with us. Life is busy as ever, but ain't it grand! Sorry i don't have pics. they won't upload. i'll try again later

So life is sure busy around here! Business, work, kids, sports, house, yard and garden! I'm tired just typing it! Brad is now in District soccer. Lynette is excited to come home for conferance! We have tickets for sat. morning! Leslie is working hard to try and bring up her grades, she thinks 7th grade is hard! Justin is singing his heart out and excited about his birthday and baptism! He got a new suit and shoes and looks just like the missionaries! We are realy going to miss those of you who can't make it. Does anyone have plans for thanksgiving? It's our turn to go to my family.

I can't believe i have almost been married 20 years!

Reece is staying busy. it's a typical fall. He's been home more this year than ever. We have been brokering 2 other trucks. One pulls our trailer, so we get a % of it. That has been doing well. And makes it so that Reece can be home a little more.

Love you all! Phillips Phamily!

Visiting the Nichols' in California

How fun! We flew out of Salt Lake on Sat. morn. Got our rental mini-van (Beautiful shade of Periwinkle Purple) and drove to Bakersfield. We were the last ones to the church to eat. Imagine that. We went and checked into our hotel. Took a while as they had given away my reservation(long story). Drove to Pump it up for Gracie and Maddie's Birthday party! Had lots of fun till Reece hit his head on an inflateable tube and moved a toothpick shard in his throat that gave him fits.

Then on Sunday we were greeted "eagerly" at church! Everyone wanted to know if we were new to the ward and kinda seemed upset to know we were just visiting. Justin fell asleep in testimony meeting and was dreaming aabout eating marshmallows and tried to eat the bench and his hand!

Back to Torrie and Sheridans for Chicken! mmm. Sat around and talked till about 9:30 or ten. Next morn(labor day) the Nicholas' and Grand ma D went with us to Santa Monica Beach. There were alot of people! The weather was hot and the waves were high so the people didn't bother the kids at all.

Later that night after our good byes we went to see the Los Angeles Angels play the Oakland Athletics. It was very hot in the Stadium. Thank goodness we were in the shade! The next day we went to Disneyland and that night another ball game. Wednesday back to Disney California. Got up early Thursday morn to take back the "rental" (theres a joke there) and be to the airport by 8:30 a.m. We had a great time and nobody was grouchy and nobody faught! I think we might even try it again!
